[squid-users] Newbie Problem

Hey all,

OK. I am running Fedora Core2. Squid must have been installed via RPM when
I did the install because all the files were there. I was having problems
getting squid to use the nsca_auth param in my squid.conf. I put the entry
in but instead of asking for a username and passwd when I pointed my browser
to a site it would just give me the default squid "Access Denied" page.

I thought there might be a problem with the Squid install. I did a
'squid -v' and see that it is at STABLE5. I figured I would download the
latest which is STABLE7. I did all the ./config make and makeinstall......I
went into the helpers folder and did the make and makeinstall for the
NCSA_AUTH module....it all seemed to work well. I went into the
/etc/init.d/ and pointed the script to the new squid binary that was
installed by the ./configure....

However the squid program is still not giving me the username and passwd
prompt and also when I execute a 'squid -v' it is still indicating
STABLE5...

How can I get it to recognize the new version of Squid? Once I get that done
I can start troubleshooting the authentication program.

Cheers,

Travis
