This is a correct behaviour for all Squid versions/ports.

How avoid this:

- You can use a proxy.pac file that handles local/remote sites, see one of
the many threads about this on squid-users.

- You can use the append_domain squid.conf directive.

- You can use the hosts file of your Squid machine with the hosts_file
squid.conf directive, but this the worse solution because you need to
maintain the hosts file.
