You still need to insert __FD_SETSIZE in kernel 2.6. i
guess. Open up the /usr/include/bits/types.h with any
editor and insert __FD_SETSIZE 8192 at the top of the
file.

then run the command, ulimit -HSn 8192 and lastly,
recompile the squid 2.5. remember that u need to run
the ulimit -HSn 8192 command at the squid's binary
directory everytime u want to start the squid
daemon.cheers!
