  - Some guidelines : check the FAQ or Release Notes as to check which samba
versions are really supported with 2.5.STABLE7.

  - OS/platform/version ?
    
          % man -k signal
  
  may point you to a man page, listing the particular sig. values
  and their meaning.
  I think you find this on Linux with :

          % man 7 signal

   - Check your os logging too. Check for os indicators as to why
     processes are or could be terminated.
