Probably the ICMP implementation in Squid does not work that well on
HP-UX.

Are you really sure you need/want the ICMP rtt probes sent by Squid? In
most environments this only adds overhead to the requests with only
marginal or none improvement in latency, not to mention some web sites
blocking you for sending "odd" traffic.
