[squid-users] cache_mem and large downloads

Hi,

I'm running squid stable 6 and I find that if I download the following
file:

http://trials.macromedia.com/pub/esd/activation/DreamweaverMX2004-en.zip

from internet explorer but don't hit save then my mem_node count will
grow and my process memory usage will grow. This isn't limited by the
cache_mem directive and keeps growing until the full file is downloaded.

As this is a 100MB file, squid will grow by 100MB.

After the download is complete, the mem_node count will drop back down
but the memory usage stays at over 100MB.

Should I be expecting this behaviour? Should my memory usage also drop
back down after the download is complete?

Thanks,

Graeme
