As you have a problem which is reproducible the easiest approach is what
is described close to the end

start Squid under the contol of GDB

         % gdb /path/to/squid
         handle SIGPIPE pass nostop noprint
         run -DNYCd3
         [wait for crash]
         backtrace
         quit
