hi,

i am trying to put squid before a zope as accelerating caching proxy.
everything is working well except one thing:
squid quits caching after a while but it still operates as proxy. it
still delivers documents out of the cache but does not put new ones into
cache.

we have very complex pages in our zope. whith squid, normaly a page
needs a few seconds to be built the first time. after that it gets
delivered from squid with no delay.
when the problem comes up pages which are still in cache are still fast.
new pages are slow at the first time and don't get faster with the next
request.

i have no idea, what causes the problem.
if i try to restart squid, or to erase and rebuild the cache-dir, it
does not help.
sometimes out of nothing, squid seems to start working properly again.
top tells me nothing unusual.
no url-rewriting in the moment.
i tryed for testing-purposes with no impact on the problem:
refresh_pattern ^http: 55 20% 4320 override-expire
override-lastmod reload-into-ims ignore-reload

the system:
debian woody/sarge
Squid Cache: Version 2.5.STABLE9
