Yes squid have all right on directories it need to.
and here is the output of the squid -Nd1

- Did you run 'squid -z' before starting?
- Does the user you start squid with have write access to all directories
it tries to write to?
- Start with 'squid -Nd1', and see if it returns to the prompt or not.
