My Dell D600 has that exact same chip and it's cost me having to replace the
motherboard a record 6 times. (same laptop)

Issues ranges from :
1. intermittent network connectivity dying
2. Connection Counters Reset after > 3G traffic (cat * a mounted shared
directory to /dev/null)
3. System Hangs.

Pile Of Dung? Maybe. Bad Luck? High POssibility. Dell gone crappy over the
years. Very Likely.
