At least at squid-2.5.S10; but you should use the latest S12.
Special configure option is needed:

--with-large-files Enable support for large files (logs etc).

Not to be confused with:

--enable-large-cache-files
                          Enable support for large cache files (>2GB).
                          WARNING: on-disk cache format is changed by this
option
