A very minimal server will work fine for 400 users. 32-bit single CPU,
IDE, etc. I prefer Gentoo for the O/S. I imagine 512MB of RAM would be
fine (depending on what else is running on the server, IE X, etc.),
1GB preferred.

> cache_dir ?
> max & minimum object size ?
> max object size in memory .

Use the defaults and then tune if things aren't satisfactory.
