It should work.
But please note that starting from STABLE10, when using the
"--enable-large-files" configure option the on disk format of the
cache changes. So when you start a Squid build with this option, the
cache is automatically updated, but after you will be no more able to
downgrade Squid maintaining intact your cache.

Simply merge your current squid.conf settings into the new
squid.conf, and check the correct value of the new cache_dir directive.
