Have you tried encapsulating each if/else if block within '{' and '}' ?
Like follows.

if(isPlainHostName(host) ||
 dnsDomainIs(host,".mydomain.lcl") ||
 host.substring(0,12)=="192.168.99." )) {
  return "DIRECT"; }

etc etc.
