I'm currently running squid on Solaris 10/Sparc as a http accelerator for several sites.
Has worked well for us over the last year now.
10k clients doesn't really indicate anything unless you specify the time frame that
these clients are accessing within. Generally squid performance is measured in
requests per second.
I would guess that Linux currently is the best performaning OS if you apply the
epoll patch.
