[squid-users] blocking multiple requests

I need "collapsed_forwarding" functionality in accellerator mode to work in
normal mode.

In a posting back in 2001,

http://www.squid-cache.org/mail-archive/squid-dev/200106/0127.html

Henrik indicated that changing "extern int opt_catch_signals; /* 1 */"
(globals.h) to 0 would enable this feature.

Does anybody know if this is the best way to go? I didn't have any luck
when compiling with this option. Multiple requests for the same URL would
go through the cache.

I have homogenous clients, and some slow dynamic content which is killing
the origin server when thousands of these requests come knocking.

I'm considering rolling out stable13 ith this feature enabled.

Thanks for any replies about this approach or any other you can come up
with.

-Jim
