[squid-users] SSL or digest & LDAP

Hello, sorry for my bad english.

Current user authentication schema:

1.browser --> 2.(encoding only, but need encryption) -->
3.squid_ldap_auth --> 4.LDAP over SSL --> 5.LDAP server

While searching squid mail archive, I understood that client
authentication with SSL encryption is not possible for now, because
browsers still don`t support this function and it is impossible to
connect LDAP server via "squid_ldap_auth" or "squid_ldap_group" using
digest user authentication too.
But last discussion found by me was dated 2004 year.

Maybe there is any method now that can help me to solve this problem?
