Hi Nicole,

First of all, I had some issues using diskd with Squid-2.6 in
FreeBSD-6.x (both AMD and I386). Also kqueue has some issues too.

But I'm sure that there is a workaround.

Secondly, cache_mem 1000 MB

Will setting cache_mem that high really improve the browsing
experience? I mostly use 64 MB - 256 MB in all my FreeBSD squid servers.

But I will definitely test it on one of my servers.

Thirdly, maximum_object_size 16096 KB

Well I would definitely want to raise that value to at least 32768 KB

Please note that I am not an expert of Squid. The values I am giving
you are exactly the values that I use on my Squid production servers.

Fourthly, Adrian Chadd, one of the Squid developers had suggested me to
use the cache_dir aufs instead of diskd which I am using in one of my
servers. And I have to say that it's working great.

For the rest of your squid.conf settings and directives, I am sure that
Hendrik and Adrian will shed more light on it rather than me.
