Fixed that and it seems to work fine now. So far.

See below. How does that look? Also, do I need to increase "file
descriptors"? They appear to be set at 1024 now. I am running CentOS
4.4 and not sure I should change them. Is there anyway to tell how
many are in use? There is an example of how in Duane Wessel's Squid
book. Actually lots of stuff in his book.

Right now this is running on a single SATA 7200 RPM drive which is
also system drive. I plan on eventually adding 2 more SATA drives and
splitting the cache between the 2 additional drives and not using
system drive for cache at all but only logs and system. I think that
should handle the load?
