I do have that option set.

Here is my squid.conf:

http_port 80 accel defaultsite=xxxx
cache_peer xxxx parent 80 0 no-query login=PASS originserver connection-auth=on
acl all src 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0
http_access allow all
client_persistent_connections on
server_persistent_connections on

I tried to keep it minimal to cut down on the possibilities of errors
being introduced.
