So are we saying that with WCCP in general all it can do as far as web requests is port 80? And I would need to let 443 requests just go out via the firewall...darn

It's kind of due to HTTPS being fully encrypted and all that is seen on
the wire is random garbage...

For HTTP Squid can decode the https request and understand what is going
on even when intercepted. HTTPS prevents this by nature of it's
encryption.
