Self-build or a packaged squid?
Is squid being run as root like it should?
Can you upgrade to a recent Squid (2.6 STABLE 20 is now out)?
How is the automatic restart happening?
What is your cache.log file saying about the running of squid?
Any other related setup not directly with the squid.conf? (ie transparent,
PAC, WCCP)
