Maximum amount of file descriptors.
 
Default depends on your platform, recommended amount depends on usage and objects. I remember 1024 being a common default years back, and that probably remains a suitable number for most people. I run 8192 just to be safe.
 
Read the following, but only worry about it if you feel you're in real danger of running out...
