Greetings from Brazil!

I just want to let you know about the Squid Access List Framework project, just launched on SourceForge:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/squidaccesslist/

It's in very early stage, but stable and working (for me, at least). Please note the project was born out of my own installation of Squid so maybe it doesn't meet your specific wishes and needs, but in my humble opinion it already does what most people expect their proxies to do.

Project's purpose is to make it easier and more consistent managing Squid access rules.

Current features are:

work time definition; (so you don't have to answer to "oh pleeeese" through lunch time)
privileged users identified by MAC address; (so you can keep your CEO happy)

4-level authorization scheme:

1) ALLOWED = stuff that is always allowed, regardless of time: usually your webmail and internet banking;
2) RESTRICTED = stuff that's allowed only on free time, such as personal webmail, youtube, radio, facebook, etc;
3) BANNED = stuff that is always denied, such as disapproved content of all kind, unless specifically on ALLOWED;
4) SPECIAL = stuff that usually falls on BANNED, but wouldn't hurt much on free time: usually subsets of BANNED;

All levels support domains, regular expressions, mime types and browsers.

SALF is "plug&play", just append some stuff to your squid.conf, untar the default "rules" directory structure, tune your work time and default lists and enjoy.

Cheers,
Diogo
