The 'pinger' helper used to measure the optimal network link speeds and
distances needs to be installed specially with root privileges.
For self-installs it's done with "make install-pinger" for packaged
builds you may need to chown and chmod manually.

This is not a critical failure. It will only result in some lack of
optimal path discovery.

You appear to have missed the part about preventing requests from the
peer being sent back there.

Or possibly unique_hostname is set to identical values on both Squid.
The default is for it to be set to the content of visible_hostname.
