well, that is a good understandable statement which I guess makes everyone happy

you could consider changing the squid.conf.default to this and let it clear
that allow-miss actually do not fetch new but refresh stale objetcs

yes, I tcpdumped the connection

transparent proxy, don't know what was in the access log
