     squid need some (a lot, in fact) RAM to keep indexes od the objects
stored on the cache. You can use RAM to create a tmpfs and use it for
cache, of course you can. But you cant forget squid uses RAM for other
things as well.

     Getting 6 of 8 GBs to the tmpfs would, probably, leave very few RAM
for squid (and all the rest of processes/OS stuff) and, eventually,
squid (and the whole OS) would start swapping and then your performance
would became VERY bad.

     With the correct calculations on RAM usage by squid and other
processes, as well with some monitoring, you can surely use some of the
available RAM to create a tmpfs and have squid caching things there. But
6 out of 8 i think its simply too much.
