I'm currently trying to dig out the kernel & squid config, it was about 2
years ago I'd put this set up together.
To answer some of your questions...
1. No special drives, just standard 72GB SAS drives using RAID 1 at hardware
level
2. I will dig these out
3. Squid was running as a reverse proxy (accelerator)
4. Yep!
5. Yep definately!
