The Squid HTTP Proxy team is very pleased to announce the
availability of the Squid-3.2.0.17 beta release!

This release fixes a few more stability bugs found over the prior 3.2
beta releases.
The last several betas were not announced widely due to some annoying
outstanding issues which are now thought to be fully resolved.

A reminder to all:
Queries about new features in 3.2 (beta) series please report to
squid-dev mailing list. Bugs get reported through bugzilla please.
Squid-users help list is not read by many of the developers who need
to receive your feedback.

The major change to be aware of in this release is AUFS/UFS/DiskD cache
format being updated to version 2 with 32-bit/64-bit portability and
better error checking for corrupt entries.

Due to the difference from version 1 format cache swap.state upgrading
to this release will involve at least one full rescan of the cache.
The CLEAN/DIRTY scan type messages have been replaced with more
informative descriptions to describe why the scan is taking place.
As yet CPU architecture portability is not yet complete. So moving
caches between high and low endian CPU systems is not supported.

Alongside that a number of build errors, documentation bugs and some
connection setup crashes have been resolved.

Important changes to note from 3.2.0.15 and 3.2.0.16:

* DNS A and AAAA queries are sent in parallel. Greatly reducing the lag
time for DNS queries.
For now the A query is no longer able to be disabled, so dns_v4_fallback
has been removed.

* Shared memory cache now builds and operates on many more systems than
previously.
Crashes and startup issues caused by the new code in betas prior to
3.2.0.16 are resolved.

* memory use for non-cacheable object transfers is greatly improved.
This reduces the mempry footprint for uploads, downloads and streamed
requests.
Admin suffering problems with many users are encouraged to test this
release.

* numerous TLS/SSL issues in 3.2 have been resolved.
Some remain, but if you have been having issues please test this release
to see if they are still present and update any relevant bug reports.

As usual this release contains all the fixes passed on to 3.1 series
alongside its own changes.

See the ChangeLog for the list of other minor changes in this release.

All users interested in 3.2 features are encouraged to assist testing
this release.
