it's not just the wiki..
Squid was designed as a single core\process and evolved quite some time
towards SMP.

Since squid can do lot's of stuff still when it's only a not multi
threaded software.

May I ask about the reason for native support for threads??
There are many things that are not just in the level of threading that
still can make the software much faster and stronger.
