The calculation is ~15MB of cache index meta data per GB of cache
objects.

And yes it applies to all cache storage types, including cache_mem BTW.

Rock is unlikely to cause a hang due to size. It could cause crashes
(out of memory, OOM-killer) or extreme slowdown (virtual memory
swapping, or startup time to scan the rock DB generating that meta
data).
