Probably restricted to the Linux emulation mode. The project however
once had the goal at providing kernel threads natively for FreeBSD,
without the need of Linux emulation.

So that gives us the following known platforms where kernel threads do
work:

* Linux 2.2+/glibc
* Solaris
* HP-UX

Possible candidates where it might work:

* FreeBSD in Linux emulation mode
* IRIX

Unknown:

* AIX
* Compaq UNIX
* Various other
* The ones I have forgotten
