PATCH: post splaytree and auth_rewrite merge corrections

Well it always happens :=] Things get found out immediately after a release :-/

I attach a patch against sourceforge's current HEAD to remove some obsolete typedefs, catch the odd boundary case and correct
reconfigures which were broken in both splay_tree_auth and auth_rewrite (albiet in different ways).

It replaces the previous patch I sent in this morning.
