Oops! I'd been meaning to comment. I'm much happier with this patch...
However I will note that having just $SYSNETDB act as a replacement for
the whole path - instead of a magic variable :] - we essentially have
ended up with the "default" that Henrik objected to :-[.

So I've been meaning to ask - Henrik are you happy with this patch? I
see no problem, and $SYSNETDB could be made to a macro replacement
rather than a complete path later on. For now it will make cygwin and
win32 users life easier, without substatively harming end users or the
source :].
