Squid High memory Warning issue

Hello Squid Developers,
Squid provide support for generating alerts if it is facing High Memory
Usage,
I want to know at which interval squid checks its statistics to determine
whether memory Usage is grater than thrashols value in conf file.
Does it is checked after serving every request?
