Sounds good for me.
And what about the initial message sent by the helper? I was thinking
in something like this:
format-line
cache-level-1-spec
cache-level-2-spec
...
cache-level-N-spec
empty_line

(obviously, all tags used in cache level specs must also be present in
'format-line').
