microsft internet explorer ftp, and 1.0.7

        Two things:

        1) has anyone noticed what happens when you use Microsoft's
Internet Explorer through the squid cache for ftp perusal? MSIE
always looks for the following three files in the current browsing
directory:

        internal-gopher-binary
        internal-gopher-menu
        internal-gopher-text

the vast majority of time, those files don't exist.

you know, I think I'm realizing something as I type this.
I thought the above behaviour was related to the 'broken pictures'
that show up next to ftp directory entries in the MSIE display,
but now that I think about it, I'd guess it's something else. Where
do the pictures come from in the formatted output for ftp directory
listings? MSIE doesn't display them properly. Is there anything
I can do about this? We're getting ready to put our caching server
into general use by our subscribers, and I'd like things to be as
pretty and predictable as possible.

        2) I saw on the ftp site squid ver. 1.0.7, and I've been
hoping to see a release announcement come across this list. I've
read the ChangeLog, is there anything in there of special interest
to the public at large?

thanks! to the developers, keep up the good work. caching
is sorely needed on the 'net today.
