I don't think it's actually quite that bad (well, it wasn't/shouldn't be).

It'll queue them up for a dnsserver that already has a lookup pending.

This means that the average service time will go up (that value should
also be shown by cachemgr). Something less than 1 second there is good.
The highest on one of mine (very busy caches) is 569ms.
