With current versions of Squid all you need to do is install GNU malloc
on your system. You can get it from ftp.gnu.ai.mit.edu:/pub/gnu/malloc*.
If you save it as /usr/lib/libgnumalloc.a or maybe even
/usr/local/lib/libgnumalloc.a then Squid's configure script will find
and use it.
