init script for Squid ?

Hello !

What kind of /etc/rc.d/init.d/squid.init script you'd
recommend to be used with RedHat Linux 4.2 ?

I know Squid starts as 'RunCache &' or 'squid -D &',
but initd's script keeps on hanging background if
Squid's started there as

   daemon /usr/local/squid/bin/squid -D &

If started like all the other net daemons in RedHat:

   daemon /usr/local/squid/bin/squid -D

the whole init script hangs completely. The first alternative
works, but that init script won't be cleaned from the ps list
after a run, like the other daemons do.

I'm using Squid 1.1.14. The same problem existed with 1.1.10.
