Squid doesn't handle mistakes in squid.conf very well. I think this
could be the problem. Could you possibly post all the acl and
http_access/deny lines from your squid.conf?

It looks like you have defined -DUSE_BIN_TREE in the makefile (and of
course you haven't defined USE_SPLAY_TREE as well?). There could be a
bug in that code - it probably isn't as well tested as the rest of
squid. Do things work if you compile it without USE_BIN_TREE?

Is there anyone who succeeded to get a running copy of squid-1.1.17
on a
Solaris 2.5 system?

After startup at the first request the program receives a bus error.
