Permanent access to HD

I have squid on a Pentium Machine with 32MB RAM, as a 200Mb cache, but
since I upgraded to 1.1.16 the red light of the hard disk don't go off
even for a split second, always having access to the hd, and this make
squid very slow.

Cpu usage is low, and I don't know what I can move to make this behave
normaly.

I have now squid-1.1.17/NOVM (just to check if it was a problem with the
normal version of squid and my amount of memory), but this problems show
in squid/1.1.16 and 1.1.17 also, running on FreeBSD 2.2.2
