// I have squid on a Pentium Machine with 32MB RAM, as a 200Mb cache, but
// since I upgraded to 1.1.16 the red light of the hard disk don't go off
// even for a split second, always having access to the hd, and this make
// squid very slow.

Isn't this an effect of squid reloading metadata from disk to memory
during a restart ? It takes some time to do this...

//
// Cpu usage is low, and I don't know what I can move to make this behave
// normaly.
//
// Thanks in advance.
//
// I have now squid-1.1.17/NOVM (just to check if it was a problem with the
// normal version of squid and my amount of memory), but this problems show
// in squid/1.1.16 and 1.1.17 also, running on FreeBSD 2.2.2
