but if you go digging through recent list contributions (i can't
remember if this has been committed to the main squid source) you'll
find that there was code posted to use the Host: header to archive the
retrieved documents in appropriate cache locations. That would fix
your problem.

Squid will always, meanwhile, send the Host: header with the request
to the actual server.
