I thing the documentation is not updated on this subject.. the recent
Squid releases contains code that is somewhat optimized for larger ACL
lists (enabled at compile time). What Squid lacks is primarily a easy
way to update these lists without impact the service.

Almost any URL based solution can be plugged in, using a redirector.

But as you said: the hard part is not the coding, it is to compile the
list of sites to block. Optimizing the ACL lists handling is only a few
hours of work, compiling the list is a never ending job ;-).
