Yes I use a proxy i have a tcp miss in my access.log.

Here my configuration:

(Firewall altavista+cache) --------- ( Squid 1.2 beta20 patch1)
------------ ( My computer with proxy configured on squid.)

When i try to access an invalid url ( like www.winnt.com
<http://www.winnt.com> ) , my Netscape freeze, he run fine when the
tcpmiss appear in squid access.log .
If I configured my netscape to have Altavista in proxy configuration, my
netscape not freeze.

Is a squid problem ?

Sounds like you are not using a proxy. When netscape uses a
proxy it
        does not do DNS lookups.

Check your netscape proxy settings and/or PAC script.
