File Descriptors on Linux Red Hat 5.1

Hi to all,

    I am running squid-2.1.PRE1 on a RH 5.1 linux, 2.0.35-2 kernel.

I followed the faq
http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/FAQ/FAQ-11.html#filedescriptors,
Downloaded the filehandle.patch.linux.v8.03 from
ftp://ftp.is.co.za/linux/local/kernel/.
When I tried to apply it i got error messages and could not compile the
kernel.
Anybody can help?
