You can load any icons from mime.conf, and then refer to them as
http://your.squid.server:3128/squid-internal-static/icons/filename.gif

Add your own internal icons after the last line "." in mime.conf (.
matches everything, so any additions after this won't ever show up as
icons in any file listings).

Note that these icons has to be added on all squid-2 caches peering with
you (for the moment at least). A better approach if you are peering with
other caches is to have a small HTTP server for icons and related
information pages, like how you do in Squid 1.X.
