Nasty Squid crash under linux

Well the subject says it all. It had been up about 3 weeks and just
stopped. I could not access the box, because the Load went up to about
167!! Thank god for the LCDProc :)

My system is Linux 2.2.1, glibc 2.07 and squid compiled with --async-io.

Is this a bug in the 2.2.1 kernel, that was fixed int 2.2.2 or is this a
bug in squid?

The only interesting thing in the cache.log file was:

1999/02/24 18:41:01| urlParse: URI has whitespace: {http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/N376.fp.geo/B1554.2;sz=468x60;ord=[time stamp]?}
1999/02/25 03:26:49| Starting Squid Cache version 2.1.PATCH2 for i686-pc-linux-gnu...

I say this is interesting because it was only down for about 30 min to
half hour. This machine is connected to a time server, so I believe its
time is right. How could squid get this confused???
