2.1-RELEASE cache_dir problems

Hi,

I have 2 server both running 2.1-RELEASE of squid and my cache_dir lines
don't seem to be working as expected.

In the first box I use the line
  cache_dir /www_cache 500 16 256
which to me means, user 500MB of storage using 16 top level directories
and 256 directories in each of those 16 directories...

A quick du -sk in /www_cache says
113313 00
260 01
260 02
260 03
260 04
260 05
260 06
260 07
260 08
260 09
260 0A
260 0B
260 0C
260 0D
260 0E
260 0F

All of the cache files are going into the 00 directory.

On the other machine I have the following config
  cache_dir /www-proxy1 7400 32 512
  cache_dir /www-proxy2 6600 32 512
in this case the cache files are in both of the 00 directories but no
other directories.

There's bucketloads of diskspace available to squid.

Any ideas?

Ta
Gavin
